When it comes to the format:
I am happy with "classic" Gecho in a wooden box. I either don't care about MIDI and standard batteries (3xAA) are fine, or I can get a DIY unit and upgrade it myself.
I prefer the upgraded version with MIDI, 4xAAA batteries (so it can be thinner) and a connector for Li-Po rechargeable cell as alternative powering.
How about do-it-yourself version:
I don't care about DIY and want to receive a complete, ready to use unit.
I am happy to do some mechanical assembly, e.g. mounting acrylic panels with screws, but not soldering.
I want to do as much as possible myself, including soldering.
The wooden box:
I'd love to have the same wooden box as "classic" Gecho (possibly slimmer), it is part of what sells it to me.
I can live without a box, what is important is functionality - but it would be nice to have it.
I don't need a box as I am planning to use the board as is. Having it between acrylic panels is good enough, or I will mount it into my modular setup, employing my DIY skills. Or I will get a suitable box on my own.
Pre-orders and production funding:
I would be eager to contribute to your next Kickstarter campaign. Although I know KS do not guarantee anything (e.g. manufacturing can face delays caused by components availability), neither they keep control over the money shortly after campaign ends (they use Stripe too), I am more comfortable if the project is funded on a separate platform.
I'll be happy to place a pre-order directly on this website on similar terms: manufacturing goes ahead only after reaching critical amount in an agreed time-frame, otherwise everything is refunded. Given your project history and experience, I trust you enough (and Stripe as a payment processor) to jump on board. Let the 5% fees that KS keep from the total raised money be used to make the product better instead.
This does not work for me. I prefer to wait until you have enough units ready to be ordered and shipped in the usual time frame of 7-10 days, even if pre-orders or Kickstarter backers will be served first.
