Option 1: Complete unit

Built and soldered together. You will be able to select colour of the silicone buttons after placing your order (you will receive a link to your order page). There are six choices: translucent, sunflower yellow, bordeaux violet, lime green, sky blue and telemagenta (and here is how they look in acrylic, black and blue panel).

Accessories include USB & MIDI cable, manual and stickers. You may want to add the wooden box (see below). No batteries are included with the unit.

Select your prefered powering scheme. With any of these options, you can power Gecho via the USB port, plug or unplug it at any time as required, without affecting normal operation.

Please note that our post office prohibits shipping of Lithium batteries, even if mounted inside of a device. If you select rechargeable powering scheme, you will need to source the battery yourself and install it in (inserting 14500 battery is easy, and in case of Li-Po cell, there is a screw terminal like this to secure the two wires). The charging circuit accepts cells with 3.7V voltage and is configured for maximum charging current of 500mA (which is compatible with a wide range of batteries). It is controlling the current intelligently and does not overcharge. If you are using Li-Po cell, make sure to get one with an internal protection circuit.

Wooden box (add-on for option 1 or 3)

The box is completely separable and optional. There are slots for all connectors so you do not need to remove Gecho from it while playing.

It is made from solid wood - Ash. Unlike the boxes for "classic" Gecho v1, which were made from Alder wood, Ash is a bit harder and has more contrasting grain. In the gallery at the end of this page you can find photos of complete units in a sample box, taken from various angles.

Option 2: Acrylic sandwich

This is a minimalistic option that offers more "classic" look and allows you to get your Gecho in the most compact format possible. Protected by two acrylic panels, powered via USB (e.g. from laptops, adapters, power banks).

It has exactly the same functionality, input and outpus like all other option - the only difference is that there are no batteries. You can keep it in "Altoids" style tin can that it will arrive in, or install in another enclosure of your choice.

As opposed to previous version of Gecho, here the user-programmed content and settings are stored persistently in Flash and do not require a back-up battery.

Option 3: Complete DIY kit

The complete DIY kit allows you to build exactly what is offered as a complete unit. It only requires mechanical work, no soldering. You will receive top panel, PCB board, acrylic plate which goes between the board and batteries, all other panels (side and bottom), mounting screws (black), columns, washers, battery holder or terminals and all accessories that go with complete unit (USB & MIDI cable, manual, stickers).

This DIY kit is compatible with the wooden box, you may want to add it as well.

Option 4: DIY kit with front panel only

This option allows you to mount your Gecho in an alternative case, for example a 3D printed shell. It is ideal for powering by a Li-Po cell, but you can use other type as well, for example 18650 Li-Ion type if you mount it into a larger enclosure.

Soldering is required, but not much - only to connect the battery or holder and close two solder bridges in case the battery is rechargeable.

You will receive top panel (93x68.5mm), PCB board, acrylic plate which goes between the board and battery, mounting screws (black), washers, example file for 3D printed enclosure and all accessories that go with complete unit (USB & MIDI cable, manual, stickers).

Option 5: DIY kit with acrylic front panel

This option is essentially the same as Option 2. We don't offer it anymore as the boards are easier and a lot safer to program and test once they are protected by acrylic panels.

If you are interested in building Acrylic Sandwich with a Li-Po cell, you can get the Option 2 and leave note in checkout, we will add 2 pairs of brass spacers that allow mounting of 5-7mm thick Li-Po. You will need to solder two wires and two jumpers.

What is Gecho?

A hand-made, digital, polyphonic pocket synthesizer controlled by buttons, sensors and accelerometer. Whenever you power it on, it becomes a meditation tool, source of endless music from your environment... Or an amusing sound processor reacting to your voice, other instruments and various everyday objects that make sound or noise.

Connect it to your guitar pickup, Korg Volcas, IKM Uno or something else! Let it play chord progressions in background while you practice, or be an instant inspiration when you get stuck while composing.

Listen to textures, vibrations and infra-red light. Draw waveforms in the air and listen to them. Embed the board into your own enclosure and connect various sensors, buttons, encoders and more LEDs (one can never have too many shiny lights, right? :)

Learn basic DSP coding, invent your own effects; implement tuner, metronome, colourful VU-meter, abundant drum kits and sequencers using 32GB of storage on the Micro-SD card. Code sound and touch triggered games, follow tutorials, learn and have fun!
